AST036 – TEEN AX – “FORBIDDEN LOVE” C19
Sydney duo Teen Ax, made up of Sam Chiplin (Housewives) and Toney McKey (the almighty Pleasure Bros), have been making a cacophonous noise for the last few years now with releases on Mazurka Editions and their own Street Muscle imprint. In contrast to their usual balls-out wall of guitar noise style scree, this is a much creepier affair. Guitars are the primary source in this drooling tangle, but silence figures just as heavily. Sounds pretty close to some of the sounds issued by Breakdance The Dawn over the last millennia.
AST037 – ORINOKOFLO – “WHITE ETHNIC” C54
An uncovered gem recorded straight to tape before Orinokoflo played their last show in Newcastle late last year. Woozy synth textures, beats and dense atmospherics feature, kinda sounding like a lost Radiophonic experiment in parts. Same recording on both sides.

AST038 - VDO – “FISH TANK FULL OF COINS” c60
One part Mouving (Joshua Petherick) and other part Moffarfarrah, et al (Christopher LG Hill), VDO specialise in etching dense webs of manipulated tape sampling. Plundered synth bleeps, new age muzak and tape screeches form a miasma of (un)easy listening. Mmm, fishy.
