Following two releases on high-quality US label New Body tapes, Kendall Cahan has his first international release for AST. Loss is four tracks of raw, pummelling techno from the North Carolina native. Obviously, in this field, Container is going to be a reference point, but that is a high compliment right?

Another one that slipped into my inbox and found its way to tape. MOSA are a Russian duo dealing in industrial techno and , oftentimes, heavier themes. Some of the tracks bang with rhythmic aplomb, others just menacingly crackle. This is their first release and the first by a Russian project on AST, please tell ASIO not to tap my emails…
Bead is a relatively new duo comprised of brothers Jacob and Tom and hailing from Canberra. Although only existing for a short period, during this time they have released an excellent tape on Berlin’s Instruments Of Discipline, have supported Croatian Amor / Helm and are readying a release for LA label, Chondritic Sound. At times purely harsh and at others more floor-ready, Bead perfectly execute the industrial sound.
Chino is Krakow, Poland’s Artur Oles. Following a series of impeccable records, this is Chino’s debut on cassette. Eight tracks of perfectly studied techno with edges of the abstract. Between Chino, Lutto Lento and Kosel, I would perhaps suggest that there is a distinctly “Polish” electronic sound being created at the moment and it sounds sweet to my ears.
A new release from one of my favourite Aussie projects currently operating. Following up his Untitled cassette last year on AST, Mat Spisbah’s Oil returns with a dare I say more considered release of club-ready techno delivered with an immutable talent. Ambient passages precede and litter the tracks, but this is all about the drum programming. If you weren’t aware of Oil previously, now is the time to get slick.
An enigmatic presence crash-landed in Oakland and has since spat out two otherworldly releases on AST faves Goaty Tapes and Not Not Fun. Expect the (completely cooked) unexpected to occur with Magnetizer.
